Spring time in New York
Looking for suggestions for a hotel in NY. Anyone?
I am going with two girlfriends who have never been there, so I wanted to stay somewhere nice and centrally located. I've stayed at The Muse, and we loved it, but for this visit, I think it's a little too close to Times Square. Would also like to keep it under $300 per night. Not an easy task in the Big Apple.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Ummm -- I suppose the Holiday Inn is out of the question?
But I'm the wrong person to ask. When I go to NY in June, I'll be staying in a convent.
Yay me.

I saw stay at whatever hotel is on fire. That way you get great room rates and a free campfire!
(Sorry I haven't commented in a long time.)

I do Priceline a lot -- but I like that part of the "adventure," too. I stayed at the Iroquois in Midtown on an Met Opera pilgrimage once. Found it online, too, though not through Priceline. I loved it! It's small, just like a European boutiqe hotel. Fancy pillows and stuff.

there are a bunch of "travel budget" hotels in midtown, around lexington ave. where i've been. hotel roger smith, for instance, and a bunch of others.
i'd do 800-hotels for the cheapest deal. but priceline works well; wife and i stayed in a swank boutique hotel in soho for $100 a night with priceline.

I suggest the Colonial House Inn. Nicely located in the heart of Chelsea, very quiet, clean and pleasant, and rooms under $125 (no fooling). You can Google it. It's billed as a gay-male hotel, but plenty of women (including my boss) have stayed there and are warmly welcomed.

The Hudson. It's a half block away from Columbus Circle and it is an outstanding piece of design.
